Ozone depletion
It describes two distinct, but related observations: a slow, steady decline of about 4% per decade in the total volume of ozone in Earth's stratosphere (ozone layer) since the late 1970s, and a much larger, but seasonal, decrease in stratospheric ozone over Earth's polar regions during the same period. The latter phenomenon is commonly referred to as the ozone hole.

Course description
English for Chemistry is an English for Specific Purposes (E.S.P.) and English for Academic Purposes (E.A.P.) course tailored to the needs of first year undergraduate chemistry students at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Crete
Objectives
- To familiarize students with chemical terminology and introduce the skills and language of the laboratory, graphs and charts, chemical equations, chemistry related note-taking, summarizing, report writing, classifying, comparing, describing processes and instructions.
- To enable students to communicate their English effectively in a scientific context, to write in a manner adequate to the ACS style for chemists.
- To enable students master the language of science and achieve academic and professional development.
