Exam Content (English 2) May 2009

The exam content of English for Chemistry Foundation course 2 includes all the topics and exercises from week 1 to week 9.

Students should bear in mind that the exam format will be similar to that of English 1, consisting of four sections:
A. Reading comprehension questions
B. Vocabulary tasks
C. Grammar tasks
D. Writing an essay (120-180 words)

The exam date is May 29th, 9.00-12.00 pm in B2.

Presentations related issues and grades

Students who didn't take part in the presentations are not eligible to sit for the final exam of English for Chemistry Foundation 2. The oral presentation delivery was compulsory - not optional. They can only sit for the September exam.

On Thursday 21 at 3.00pm four students turned up for the presentations. Their marks were:

Manolis mark for the English 2 presentation is 8.0

Students will be using the instructor's textbook "English for Chemistry Foundation" (2008) as well as additional material provided in class. On week 10, students are advised to attend a seminar on how to deliver effective presentations.


You may pick up your books from my office every Friday at 10.15.

English 1 Project: Hand in date January 29 2009

English for Chemistry Foundation 1 students won't take another test for this semester but they will have to submit a summary of three academic articles of a chemistry topic (of their choice).

The journals should not be ones found on the web but accessed through the University database. Students may send their summary either by emailing the tutor or publish it in their blog.

Please note that plagiarism is not accepted. Students who plagiarise will fail.

Hand-in date January 29th, 2009 at 12.00.

Computer seminars in English

Students registered for the Chemistry English Foundation 1 are requested to attend a seminar on how ot create your own blog in the computer room on Wednesday, October 1 at 500.
